ALBERTO GIACOMETTI YVES KLEIN
In Search of the Absolute
Which are the affinities between emaciated, thready Alberto Giacometti’s sculptures and Yves Klein’s bright blue stretches? Which are the differences? This is what art historian Joachim Pissarro tries to figure out with this two-part publication. In Search Of The Absolute first volume features texts, some of which unseen, and pictorial chronologies of the artists, while the second one contains images of the homonymous exhibition headed at London’s Gagosian Gallery.
Even though the work of these two pioneering artists seems so different, setting them aside creates a complementary vision: fragility on the one hand and the overcoming of the physical dimension on the other, both represented through a deep study of the human figure.
