POUL KJÆRHOLM

by Nils Fagerholt

Poul Kjærholm started his career as a cabinetmaker’s apprentice, to then focus on furniture and leave a mark in the history of design with his wonderful and innovative chairs. Combining a modern vision with an uncompromising approach to quality and material, his creations are recognizable for their timeless design and international aesthetics, and nowadays they are exhibited in important museums all over the world.

Accompanied by several essays and photographs of his furniture, the book was first published in 1999 and consists of a portrait of Kjærholm’s work and personal artistic approach: the predilection for the usage of steel, cleverly combined with marble, wool and leather; passion for the handcrafted; the tight relation between light and surfaces.
