Ronan Bouroullec, Résonance

Centre Pompidou, 28 February – 23 September 2024

On the occasion of the Résonance exhibition dedicated to Ronan Bouroullec at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Mutina unveils a series of previews for the upcoming Milan Design Week.

On the 5th of March 2024, the Centre Pompidou inaugurated Ronan Bouroullec’s first solo exhibition, curated by Marie-Ange Brayer, Senior Curator of the Design and Industrial Prospective Department at the Mnam-Cci and and by Olivier Zeitoun. The exhibition showcases Bouroullec’s work as a designer and artist.

The exhibition features some unreleased products created for Mutina, including Adagio, a modular wall installation adaptable to different scales and contexts. The lattice structure recalls the pattern of the fabric, with its three-dimensionality emphasized by the overlap of elements. The name refers to musical time and the slowness of the gesture, as Adagio requires application one piece at a time, following a sophisticated interlocking game.

In addition to Adagio, three new Editions are displayed: Camino, Camini, and Candeliere. Camino and Camini are collections combining cylindrical vases in anodized aluminium with ceramic elements outlining the supporting structure.

Candeliere is a modular-based lighting support capable of creating a variety of combinations. The initial structure consists of multiple cylinders joined by ceramic parallelepipeds serving as connecting elements.

All colour variations of these three collections are handmade by skilled artisans, signed, and numbered in limited editions of 100 pieces + 5 A.P. each.

During the Résonance exhibition, the Centre Pompidou also announces the acquisition of the entire range of Rombini Vases, the brick Bloc (in the Natural version), the three-dimensional Rombini Triangle element (in the Large Vert version), and the new Adagio collection. These, along with the previous ones, will become part of the museum’s permanent design collection.

Adagio and the three new Editions will be presented during the Milan Design Week and will be added to the Mutina catalogue in April 2024.

But they will not be the only ones: during the week, in fact, other products designed by Ronan Bouroullec will come to life in the spaces of Casa Mutina Milano via Cernaia 1A, and the adjacent Spazio Cernaia, a new temporary location set up especially for the occasion.
