For the second consecutive year, FIAC – Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain hosted the award ceremony of This Is Not a Prize: the annual recognition offered by Mutina, that has reached its third edition, through which the company aims to promote and sustain the work of contemporary artists.
This year’s committee, composed by Daniel Baumann (Director, Kunsthalle Zurich), Sarah Cosulich (Curator, Mutina For Art), Konstantin Grcic (Designer), Massimo Orsini (CEO Mutina) and Francesca Taroni (Editor in Chief, Living Magazine Italy), awarded Californian artist Liz Larner, represented by Regen Projects (Los Angeles) and Max Hetzler (Berlin).
Larner’s work combines an abstract approach with an interest for both formalism and the emotional. Even though they seem close to an idea of classicism, her sculptures recall a Californian landscape, a fragile balance and elusiveness. To celebrate the success of This Is Not a Prize 2018, we are sharing some images shot during the event.
