Red Jane Bakery, located in the heart of Chania, Crete, is the result of a visionary collaboration between hotelier Nikos Tsepetis and renowned Cypriot designer Michael Anastassiades. Together, they transformed an old foundry from the 1930s into a hybrid space, blending the industrial soul of the location with a contemporary interior design project—the first entirely overseen by Anastassiades. While preserving the captivating decay of the external facade, the interiors have been completely revolutionized with ceramic surfaces and bronze lamps.
The ceramic project, designed by Anastassiades in collaboration with Mutina, is a custom-made piece created specifically for the Red Jane Bakery in Crete. Inspired by Fringe but in a smaller format (7.4x7.4 cm), the product features a single type of grooves in white and terracotta, elegantly interpreting the minimalism of the place.
The bakery, ironically named “Red Jane” as a homage to Jane Fonda’s famous photo, offers a menu of culinary delights resulting from a three-year collaboration between head baker Seraphim Karantziounis, Eyal Schwartz of E5 Bakehouse, and the talented pastry chef Konstantinos Kasidopoulos of Cannelait Paros.
The bespoke project seamlessly integrates with the identity of Red Jane Bakery, adding a distinctive touch to the blend of sophisticated design and craftsmanship that characterizes this unusual place.
