Raw-Edges Design Studio winner of AW Designer of the Year 2020
Behind the Scene, 13th–20th January 2020
Founders of Raw-Edges, Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay are the recipients of the AW Designer of the Year 2020 Award. On this occasion, the designers realised Behind the Scene: their first retrospective, which will take place until January 20th in Cologne, Germany.
The exhibition explores their lifetime work through a journey to discover various prototypes, sketches, tools and materials coming from their archive of self-produced projects as well as from the several collaborations with design companies such as Mutina, among the others.
The exhibition space recalls a photographic set: the white backdrop, structures and lighting create contrast with the blacked out surrounding areas, emphasising the vibrant colours of the studio’s works. Furthermore, it has been designed with a sustainable intent, as materials and props have been hired or might be reused following the exhibition.
