Ronan Bouroullec New Collections 2024
On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2024, Mutina presents a series of news entirely designed by Ronan Bouroullec. The installation involves not only the spaces of Casa Mutina Milano, but also the garden and loft of the adjacent Spazio Cernaia, with the creation of a true path through the French designer’s creations. Strongly inspired by nature, the new products presented in April are the result of a process of experimentation that has always underpinned Mutina and Bouroullec’s design approach.
Adagio
Adagio is a project consisting of a series of ceramic modules designed by Ronan Bouroullec to be assembled and generate scenic wall sculptures. The reticular structure resembles the fabric’s weave, whose three-dimensionality is made evident by the overlap of elements. The name refers to musical tempos and the slowness of the gesture: Adagio requires applying one piece at a time, following a sophisticated interlocking game.
Osso & Bottone
Osso & Bottone is the first Mutina collection explicitly designed for the outdoors, but also perfectly functional indoors. Designed by Ronan Bouroullec, it represents a significant innovation in ceramic usage and versatility. The name comes from the shapes evoked by the slightly contoured configuration of the pieces that make up the collection. The designer intervened on the ceramic elements with a symbolic gesture, “cutting” the traditional rectangle to create unique shapes. The result is a kind of optical vibration capable of blurring the original configurations and opening a dialogue between the collection and the natural world it faces.
Editions
The new Editions designed by Ronan Bouroullec for Mutina are a series of vases (Talea, Camino and Camini, Finestra Giorno and Finestra Notte) and a modular candelabra (Candeliere), entirely inspired by rustic and natural imagery.
Talea is a vase with organic shapes, similar to buds ready to sprout. Camino and Camini evoke familiar contexts and combine a ceramic structure with anodised aluminium containers. Finestra Giorno and Finestra Notte stand in space like gateways to imagined worlds. Candeliere, finally, is a lighting support that can give rise to a wide range of combinations.
