Coppie di Fatto originates from a project in which Nathalie Du Pasquier continues her exploration into the transformative potential of ceramics. The artist envisioned a series of handmade ceramic objects that challenge traditional definitions: vases that turn into bowls, containers that can be flipped and take on different functions depending on how they’re positioned. Some hold a single flower, others become generous vases for more elaborate compositions. Yet, the playfulness always reveals itself: these pieces exist as pairs, because it is in the dialogue between forms that their double meaning comes to life.

Coppie di Fatto features seven colourful pairs glazed in a palette typical of the artist’s sensibility. These are open-edition works, sold exclusively in pairs, which immediately express the playful and versatile nature of the collection. The spray glazing technique, simple yet flexible, allows for a wide variety of colours and combinations.
Each element of Coppie di Fatto is entirely handmade using the potter’s wheel technique, in accordance with Italian artisanal tradition.
Every piece is signed and sequentially numbered, highlighting the exclusivity of the production.

French artist and designer Nathalie Du Pasquier joined the Mutina team in 2019 with the realisation of BRIC, site-specific installation exhibited on the occasion of MUT 4. She designed Brac, a series of three-dimensional elements, the Mattonelle Margherita, Paesaggi and Coppie di Fatto collections.
“These simple vases kept us thinking for a long time. It seemed like a simple idea: Coppie di Fatto, a vase made of two elements that can be placed upright or flipped. A vase for flowers or a bowl for biscuits, depending on how they’re positioned. They must always be presented as a pair to reveal their dual function.”
