Coppie di Fatto Black by Nathalie Du Pasquier

Coppie di Fatto Black originates from a project in which Nathalie Du Pasquier continues her exploration into the transformative potential of ceramics. The artist envisioned a series of handmade ceramic objects that challenge traditional definitions: vases that turn into bowls, containers that can be flipped and take on different functions depending on how they’re positioned. Some hold a single flower, others become generous vases for more elaborate compositions. Mysterious, sculptural, and silent, they seem to emerge from another time.

Sustainability

Coppie di Fatto Black respects the environment and it doesn’t contain V.O.C.

The shapes take on a deeper tone with matte black pieces created using the ancient immersion glazing technique. Only the skilled hands of master artisans can master this delicate process, which requires slow, precise gestures and a unique sensibility to achieve a smooth, velvety surface.

These seven pieces, produced in a limited edition of ten plus three A.P., are available both individually and as sets of seven.

Nathalie Du Pasquier

French artist and designer Nathalie Du Pasquier joined the Mutina team in 2019 with the realisation of BRIC, site-specific installation exhibited on the occasion of MUT 4. She designed Brac, a series of three-dimensional elements, the Mattonelle Margherita, Paesaggi and Coppie di Fatto collections.
“I don’t know why it took us so long... At one point, we only had one vase per pair, so it wasn’t really a couple anymore… It became a different project. In fact, it also became another project: single vases that we immediately decided to make black. They weren’t even vases anymore, but rather mysterious objects, solitary, like Etruscan relics unearthed intact from a hole in a field, parts of an engine whose function we had forgotten.”
